Why is Sanae Takaichi disliked by women?

In the presidential election of Japan's Liberal Democratic Party, the focus is on the economy, foreign affairs and security. However, in the political confrontation, another long-shelved social issue, the issue of "couples having different surnames", is also a focus of political attention. Take the newly elected Sawa Takashi as an example. His political stance is conservative and tough. However, his marriage is as decisive and resolute as the British Iron Lady Thatcher she envisions. In 2004, he married Representative Takumi Yamamoto without a relationship. In 2017, they divorced due to different political views. Later, encouraged by Shinzo Abe, they remarried. Eventually, The surname was also determined by rock-paper-scissors. Yamamoto lost the guess. Now, he has taken the surname of Takashi's wife and become Takashi Takumi. This also shows that this future female prime minister of Japan is not conservative within her conservatism.

But this female prime minister openly opposed the couple having different surnames. Such a person is just too two-faced.

Why is Sanae Takaichi disliked by women?

In my interviews, almost every woman expressed impatience with Sanae Takaichi. Why do they dislike her? The main reason is that her two-faced nature is off-putting. In her youth, Takaichi was a rebellious teenager, and in her marriage, she adhered to female dominance, with her husband taking her surname—a very rare practice in Japan. Before her election, she was a feminist, advocating for women's rights. However, after becoming prime minister, she vehemently opposed couples using different surnames, which she sees as disrespectful to women and could lead to a regression in gender equality in Japan!
